Haynes Alloys Flat Wire Haynes 718
Overview
Haynes718 is a high strength, high temperature resistance nickel base alloy, with excellent oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, good formability and weldability, used in aerospace, chemical industry and other fields. Its chemical composition gives it high temperature strength and comprehensive corrosion resistance, and it can work in extreme environments for a long time, showing an extremely long service life.

High strength
Haynes 718 alloy has excellent high strength performance, especially at temperatures below 650 ° C, which is called "performance responsibility". At room temperature, its tensile strength can easily break through 1200MPa, just like a strong strong, can withstand huge tension without being easily pulled off; The yield strength can also reach about 1000MPa, which means that when it is subjected to a strong external force, it can stick to its "morphological position" and is not easy to undergo plastic deformation. When the temperature rises to 650 ° C, its tensile strength can still be maintained above 950MPa, the yield strength is about 750MPa, such excellent high temperature strength performance, making it stand out in many superalloys.
In the manufacture of turbine disc of aeroengine, the turbine disc needs to withstand huge centrifugal force and high-temperature gas impact when the engine is running. With its high strength characteristics, Haynes 718 alloy can stably support the structure of the turbine disc to ensure efficient and safe operation of the engine, and has become an indispensable key material in the field of aeroengine manufacturing.
Excellent corrosion resistance
Haynes 718 alloys show strong "corrosion shield" ability in different corrosive environments.
In an acidic environment, such as an environment containing strong corrosive acids such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, the elements such as nickel and molybdenum in the alloy will work closely together. Nickel can enhance the overall stability of the alloy, molybdenum is like a "corrosion resistance sword", effectively resist acid erosion, prevent the alloy and acid chemical reaction, so as to maintain the integrity of the alloy.
In chemical production, many reaction processes will produce a variety of acidic waste gas and waste liquid, the use of Haynes 718 alloy made of reactor, pipeline and other equipment, can resist the corrosion of acidic substances for a long time, ensure the smooth progress of chemical production, reduce the frequency of equipment maintenance and replacement, reduce production costs.
It also performs well in alkaline environments. Even in the face of high concentrations of alkaline solutions such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, Haynes 718 alloy can form a stable protective film with its unique chemical composition and microstructure to prevent the damage of alkaline substances to the alloy.
In some industrial fields involving the treatment of alkaline substances, such as the paper industry, the cooking process requires the use of a large number of alkaline solutions, and the equipment made of Haynes 718 alloy can operate stably in this strongly alkaline environment, ensuring the continuity and reliability of the production process.
Good oxidation resistance
The oxidation resistance of Haynes 718 alloy at high temperatures is like creating a strong "invisible armor" for itself. When the alloy is in a high temperature environment, the chromium element in the alloy will react quickly with oxygen to form a dense oxide film on the alloy surface. This layer of oxide film is like a tight barrier, tightly covering the surface of the alloy, separating oxygen from other elements inside the alloy, effectively preventing further diffusion of oxygen to the inside of the alloy, thus slowing the oxidation rate of the alloy.
In high-temperature gas turbines, where the operating temperature is often hundreds of degrees Celsius, Haynes 718 alloy is widely used in the manufacture of high-temperature components of gas turbines, such as combustion chambers and turbine blades. In such a high temperature environment, the alloy with its good oxidation resistance, can maintain its own performance stability for a long time, will not cause material performance decline due to oxidation, component damage and other problems, to ensure the efficient and stable operation of the gas turbine, for the development of the energy field to provide reliable material support.
Excellent processing properties
Haynes 718 alloy has excellent performance in formability and weldability, which brings great convenience to industrial manufacturing. In terms of thermal processing, its suitable processing temperature range is generally between 950-1150 ° C. In this temperature range, the alloy is like a soft "dough", has good plasticity, and can be easily processed into various shapes of parts by forging, rolling and other processes. Through hot processing, the microstructure of the alloy can be improved to make it more uniform and dense, so as to further improve the performance of the alloy. For example, when manufacturing the turboshaft of a large aircraft engine, the Haynes 718 alloy billet can be processed into a turboshaft with a specific shape and size through the hot forging process, which meets the requirements of high-precision and high-performance components of the aircraft engine.
In terms of cold processing, although the strength of the alloy itself is high, making the cold processing relatively difficult, but through reasonable process control, such as the use of appropriate molds, lubricants and optimization of processing parameters, the cold processing of the alloy can still be achieved. Cold working can make the alloy obtain higher dimensional accuracy and surface quality, but also can further improve the strength and hardness of the alloy. For example, through the cold rolling process, Haynes 718 alloy sheet can be machined into a thinner, smoother surface sheet for the manufacture of some parts that require high dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
In terms of welding performance, Haynes 718 alloy also performs well, and can be welded by various welding methods such as argon arc welding and electron beam welding. In the welding process, by strictly controlling the welding process parameters, such as welding current, voltage, welding speed, etc., welding defects can be effectively avoided and the quality and performance of welding joints can be ensured. When manufacturing the reactor in petrochemical equipment, it is often necessary to connect multiple Haynes 718 alloy parts together by welding, and its good welding performance can ensure the strength and tightness of the welded joint, and meet the working requirements of the equipment in high temperature, high pressure and corrosive environment.
Conclusion:
The Haynes 718 nickel-based alloy has found its place in a number of fields due to its high strength, high temperature resistance and good machinability. In the future, with the continuous progress of science and technology, the demand for this alloy will only increase.
