Electroslag process is a special metallurgical technology, mainly used in the production of high-end special steel and special alloys. In this process, the electric current generates resistance heat through the slag to melt the consumable electrode alloy base metal, the liquid metal drops through the slag layer to the metal melt pool in the water-cooled crystallizer, to achieve slag washing and cleaning of the liquid steel, and the ingot gradually crystallizes from the bottom to the top.
The main features of electroslag process include:
1.Improve the purity of the metal: the electroslag process can remove the harmful impurity elements and non-metallic inclusions in the metal, the general gas content can be reduced to about 0.002%, and the total amount of inclusions can reach 0.004% to 0.006%.
2.Dense structure: the density of electroslag casting metal is 0.33% ~ 1.37% higher than that of ordinary casting metal, making the metal structure more dense.
3.Uniform composition and organization: The metal composition and organization produced by electroslag process are uniform, the crystallization is fine, the surface is smooth, and no machining is required.
4.Improve alloy properties: electroslag process can improve the durability and plasticity of the alloy, eliminate or reduce a variety of macro and micro defects.
Electroslag process has been widely used in the production of superalloy, precision alloy, corrosion-resistant alloy, aluminum, copper, titanium, silver and other non-ferrous metal alloys. For example, electroslag remelting superalloy ingot has the advantages of good malleability, smooth surface quality and high yield.
The equipment composition of electroslag process usually includes mechanical system, power supply system and control system. The mechanical system is divided into two types from the structure of double arm and single arm, which are mainly composed of mold platform, support column, cross arm, electrode lifting mechanism, electrode holder and so on.
